DB King Electrical Contractors, a Durham, NC based electrical company was founded December 8, 2014. Prior to the creation of DB King, Donnie King co-owned King Brothers Electric Company in Durham where he served as President for 38 years.
DB King Electrical Contractors provides a variety of electrical services to private companies, non profits, hospitals and residential clients. We’ve had the unique opportunity to work on some amazing projects in the Triangle over the past several decades and each day we’re thankful that we get to work with so many amazing employees, contractors, vendors and clients.
DB King Electrical Contractors is a licensed Electrical Contractor in the state of North Carolina. We hold what is referred to as an Unlimited Electrical License (License #U.30728). This allows us to work on any job regardless of size.
DB King has worked on electrical projects of all sizes, including larger ones that require bonding. Our company has significant bonding capacity that allows us to meet the bonding requirements of most any job, large or small.
DB King Electrical Contractors conducts background checks on our employees and also cooperates with our larger commercial and industrial clients where employees must undergo additional background screening for different types of security clearance.
Safety is extremely important to every member of the DB King team. We hold regular safety meetings in-house and also require all our employees to attend safety meetings held by our clients when necessary.

Donald B. King (people call him Donnie) has been in the electrical field since 1972. During his first few years in the industry, he worked for a local company for 6 years. In 1978 he and his brother Kelley King started King Brothers Electric. The company grew to be a leading commercial and residential electrical contractor in the Triangle, employing up to 80 workers and completing projects up to 180,000 square feet in size.
In 2015 Donnie and Kelley decided to close King Brothers Electric and partner up with their sons in different companies. Donnie and Blake King opened DB King, Inc., which employed up to 80 workers in its first year, and continued on just as before.
Donnie has managed electrical projects of all types and sizes, including TV stations, schools, churches, office buildings, restaurants, banks, football stadiums, and all types of college athletics facilities. DB King has been selected to complete projects due to difficulty and time frame constraints that most other companies would refuse to attempt. Donnie has formed strong relationships with a large number of customers over the past 40 years.
On a personal note, Donnie has been married to Lee Anne King since 1974, has two children Blake King and Lisa King Carden and three grandchildren. Donnie was born in Durham and has lived here all his life.
Blake King started working with King Brothers Electric in high school and worked summers until he graduated from UNC Wilmington with a Business degree. Upon graduation in May of 2005, Blake returned to Durham and worked with King Brothers for several years as an electrician in the field, later moving to a project manager / estimator role until 2012, when he received his unlimited electrical contractor license. In December of 2014, Blake and Donnie King formed DB King, Inc., which has been serving the Triangle area ever since.
Blake lives in Durham with his wife and young daughter and enjoys spending time with friends and family.
